Celtic, RB Leipzig Target Henry Onyekuru Goes AWOL After Media Rant
Published: January 27, 2017
Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru vanished from Eupen camp ahead of the league match with Standard Liege on Thursday.
The highly-rated teenager has not given up hope of ending his association with Eupen before the close of the transfer window, and it appears he is trying to force through a move, having embarked on a media campaign to show his displeasure with his present employer.
Onyekuru has been linked with a transfer to Scottish champions Celtic and Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, and has been scouted by a plethora of teams in Europe after taking the Pro League by storm.
Eupen have insisted that they do not want to sell the Nigerian because they are fighting for survival, with only three points separating them from Westerlo, who are 15th on the 16-team table.
In 22 outings in the league this season, Onyekuru has found the net 10 times, and is the top scorer of his team.
