Eight Most Expensive Transfers Involving Nigerian Players In January 2017
Published: February 03, 2017
Following the close of the transfer window in the major leagues in Europe, allnigeriasoccer.com’s transfer market expert gives an overview of the eight most expensive transfer deals involving players of Nigerian descent.
Most of these players movements were loan deals or their previous employers allowed them to leave as free agents, meaning the players swapped teams without money changing hands.
In a sporting sense, the most celebrated transfer was the capture of Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi by Leicester City, with the Premier League champions paying Racing Genk €17.6 million.
Two days after that announcement by the Foxes, Everton informed that they have struck a deal with Charlton Athletic for England U20 international Ademola Lookman for a fee of €8.8 million.
The first place in the ranking went to Odion Ighalo who joined Chinese club Changchun Yatai, and his former club Watford received €23.3 million.
