Arsenal Striker Akpom Commits International Future To Nigeria Ahead Of England, Makes Debut
Published: March 28, 2017
Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom has finally been persuaded to represent Nigeria rather than the Three Lions at senior level, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The Hale End Academy product featured in Monday’s friendly between the Super Eagles Team A and Team B at the Hive Stadium in London, alongside Chelsea right fullback Ola Aina.
After the game, Akpom was photographed with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick.
The 21-year-old was called up for a friendly against Ivory Coast in January 2015, but could not honour the invitation because the game fell outside Fifa’s window for international friendlies plus he was mulling over his future with England youth teams.
Canning Town-born Chuba Akpom has caps for England U16, U17, U19, U20 and U21 national teams.
