Man City Readying World Record Bid For Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder
Published: April 25, 2017
Manchester City are preparing a world record bid for Tottenham Hotspur star of Nigerian descent Dele Alli, according to Barcelona legend Xavi, who is close to manager Pep Guardiola.
The Sun says Guardiola wants to sign the attacking midfielder to help City win trophies, and the Manchester-based outfit have to pay more than 89 million pounds to secure his signature.
“At the moment the best English player there is and also one of the best in Europe is Dele Alli. We are looking at a very special player, ” said Xavi.
“Technically he is the sort of player that Pep likes, the sort of player that suits the style of game that Pep likes his teams to play.
“I am sure it is not going to be a player that Tottenham will want to let go, but we know Manchester City have big resources.”
PSG and Real Madrid have also been linked with the England international, who was named PFA Young Player of the Year for a second successive season on Sunday.
