Fabrizio Romano confirms Lookman is on Galatasaray's shortlist for January transfer window

Super Lig champions Galatasaray have reportedly added Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman to their shortlist ahead of the winter transfer window, according to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Lookman has endured a difficult start to the new campaign at Atalanta following a turbulent summer in which he attempted to force a move to Inter Milan.

Despite his impressive form last season, the 26-year-old has struggled to replicate that impact this term, scoring just one goal in ten appearances across all competitions.

His dip in form, coupled with an unresolved contract situation, has fuelled speculation linking him with a switch to Turkey, where he would reunite with international teammate Victor Osimhen at Rams Park.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Lookman is indeed one of the names on Galatasaray's list for January. However, he dismissed reports that any agreement had already been reached.

"Atalanta will have to make a choice in January after rejecting an offer from Inter and Bayern Munich at the end of the transfer window," he said.

"In Turkey, they have been saying in the last few days that there have already an agreement to bring Lookman to Galatasaray in January.

"This is not the case today, there is nothing done between Galatasaray and Lookman's agent, and between Galatasaray and Atalanta, there are no agreement made to bring Lookman in January."

He added that while Galatasaray remain keen, the club are considering multiple options.

"But Galatasaray interest remain. Lookman was a target for Galatasaray in the last few days of the summer transfer window and Lookman remains a player that Galatasaray is thinking about."

"He is not the only one because Galatasaray want to make a big signing at least one in the January transfer window. So be careful because Galatasaray will be hitting the market hard in January. "

Romano stressed that, for now, no negotiations or formal talks have begun regarding Lookman's potential transfer.

"Lookman is a name they have on their list but today no negotiation have started, there's no agreement and no operation on the way."

According to data from Transfermarkt, Lookman's contract with Atalanta runs until June 2027, a timeline that places pressure on the Bergamo club to decide his long-term future.

By the summer of 2026, the winger would have just one year left on his deal, a scenario Atalanta are keen to avoid as it could significantly reduce his market value should they choose to sell.
