Exclusive: NFF Spark Club Vs Country Row As Injured Ikeme, Bazee Called Up For International Duty
Published: April 30, 2017
The Nigeria Football Federation are set to spark off another club versus country row, with Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and Hannover superkid Noah Bazee instructed to report for international duty next month in France.
Since both players returned to their respective clubs after the last international break where Nigeria faced off against Senegal, they have not been available for selection because of injuries.
Hannover's Bazee has not been involved in his club's last five games owing to a serious knee injury, and recently visited a specialist, Dr. Ulrich Boenisch, in the Augsburger Hessingpark-Clinic.
On the other hand, Ikeme is struggling to overcome a troublesome hamstring problem and has been ruled out of action for the rest of this season, at least for his club.
If Fifa have to meditate in this brewing dispute, they will take sides with the Nigerian Federation as injured international players must be released to their Federations for further assessment by national team doctors.
