Published: May 07, 2017
England are on the verge of qualifying for the knock out rounds of the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship after thrashing Ukraine 4-0 at Stadion sv. Josipa Radnika, Zagreb on Sunday afternoon.
Tottenham Hotspur defender of Nigerian descent Timothy Eyoma made the Young Lions starting eleven and assisted goalkeeper Josef Bursik to post a shutout.
Eyoma came close to giving England the lead after ten minutes but his shot missed the target, before Chelsea starlet George McEachran scored in the 20th minute to open the floodgates.
Brewster and Sancho registered their names on the scoresheet to give England a three-goal lead at the end of the first half, then Barlow added more gloss to the scoreline in the 69th minute.
Steve Cooper’s side will now turn their attention to their final group game against Netherlands on Wednesday.
Nigeria will not defend the title they won in Chile two years ago when the 2017 edition starts in India on October 6.
