Nigeria-Germany Friendly Not On The Cards, Quotes From German FA Official Fabricated
Published: May 11, 2017
Suggestions that three-time African champions Nigeria will trade tackles with Germany in a high profile international friendly later this year are incorrect, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.
Director of Communications of the NFF, Ademola Olajire, revealed that they only read about the proposed friendly in the media, and added that the game is not on the cards in the near future.
Furthermore, allnigeriasoccer.com has been doing some digging and can reveal that quotes from a German Football Association official in which he proposed a date of November 17, 2017 for the meeting between the two continental powerhouses were fabricated.
The proposed date, November 17, is not listed on Fifa's international match calendar, and November 14 is the cutoff date for official or friendly matches in 2017.
In the month of November, the Super Eagles will face Algeria in their final World Cup qualifier, while Germany may be involved in the World Cup playoffs if they do not top UEFA Group C.
