Amokachi Delighted To Represent Nigeria Again After He Was Approached By Okocha
Published: May 27, 2017
Former Everton striker Daniel Amokachi is delighted to represent Nigeria again in the Star Sixes, a tournament which will hold in England on July 13-16.
Star Sixes is a new world six-a-side tournament for former internationals taking place at The O2, London, and Nigeria have been drawn in Group B along with Brazil, Italy and China.
“I can’t wait to get started. It’s a great platform to play with and against ex-teammates and some legends of the game that played in the same generation, ” Amokachi told evertonfc.com.
“Jay-Jay Okocha first approached me about it. We’ve known each other for a long time, even before him I was very close friends with his older brother. We’re more like family than friends.
“It will be a great event and hopefully I will get to see plenty of Evertonians there. I always try to keep up my fitness, so I’m ready to play. Let’s see what happens!”
Celestine Babayaro, Garba Lawal, Austin Okocha and Julius Aghahowa are the other former Super Eagles stars expected to wear the jersey of Nigeria in the competition.
