American-Born Ike Opara Named In Major League Soccer Team Of The Week

Sporting Kansas City defender Ike Opara has been named in the Team of the Week for the latest round of games in Major League Soccer.
A former United States U23 international, Opara was recognized for his outstanding performance against Minnesota United, a game he assisted goalkeeper Timothy Melia to post a shutout, and opened the scoring in the 45th minute, his first goal in the league since July 2016.
The 28-year-old completed 66 of his 70 passes, led all players with four headed clearances, and added two interceptions and two recoveries.
Ike Opara is on on the fan ballot for the 2017 MLS All-Star Game Fan XI .
This season, the North Carolina native has 13 appearances under his belt in the American topflight.
