Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has highlighted the limited preparation time during the current Fifa international window ahead of his side's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash with Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria will face the Djurtus at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau, with both teams looking to build on their victories on matchday one of the Afcon qualifiers.
Following their win over Madagascar, the Super Eagles held a recovery session in Uyo on Saturday before stepping up preparations with another training session on Sunday ahead of their departure for Bissau.
On the eve of their clash with the Djurtus, the players also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro during their final training session.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Chelle admitted that the Super Eagles have had little time to work on tactical preparations.
"We didn't have enough training sessions to work a lot. This is the problem with this kind of Fifa window. You have only one or two training sessions to prepare (for a match)," Chelle said.
"After that, you have one or two training sessions to recover, and you have to travel.
"The most important thing is that we watched the last game and analysed it. If you look at the statistics, you can say we deserved this victory (against Madagascar).
"But the game was not very good. We conceded the first goal, and the game was not easy for us, so this is why I spoke like this."
Eric Chelle is sweating over the fitness of George Ilenikhena before Tuesday evening's clash with Guinea-Bissau, while at least two other players are expected to undergo fitness tests.
