Will Aina Debut Against Cameroon? Update On International Future Of Chelsea Starlet
Published: July 12, 2017
Chelsea loanee Ola Aina faces an anxious wait to see if he will be cleared by Football's governing body Fifa to make his competitive debut for the Nigerian National Team in their World Cup qualifier against Cameroon in September.
Contrary to rumours in the local media, Fifa has not yet approved the young right wing-back's one-time switch from England to Nigeria.
A Nigeria Football Federation insider briefly told allnigeriasoccer.com : '' Ola Aina has not been cleared yet, we are still waiting for Fifa to approve the change''.
The London native had caps for England U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 national teams before he pledged his international future to the Super Eagles.
Aina appeared in friendlies for England's U16, U17, U18 and U20 teams but was involved in competitive matches for the U19 squad, hence his application to Fifa for a one-time switch.
By the way, the new Hull City signing has not yet obtained a Nigerian passport but the Nigerian Federation have been assured that he can obtain the traveling document in twenty four hours.
