'One training with Tolu' – Wolves coach assesses Arokodare after Premier League debut

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has shared his assessment of Tolu Arokodare’s Premier League debut in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

The Nigerian forward, who arrived on deadline day from KRC Genk, started the game, with Jorgen Strand, sidelined with an Achilles injury, and played for over an hour before being substituted for Jhon Arias in the 66th minute.

Although Arokodare struggled to make a significant impact in front of goal, Pereira expressed satisfaction with his overall contribution, stressing that the striker showed promising qualities on his debut.

In his post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach highlighted the attributes Arokodare brings to the squad and explained how his style of play would benefit Wolves in the long run.

"After, we need a striker. We had one training with Tolu,” he said to Wolves official website

"He’s a different player, he’s physically strong, he gives us the possibility to play long ball and to hold this ball and to give time for us to appear.

"He did well, of course he is not in the physical condition to do better."

The defeat leaves Wolverhampton Wanderers rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, still without a point from their opening four matches.

Having made his debut, the Nigerian international will now focus on settling in and adapting to the demands of the league as he looks to prove himself and repay the manager’s confidence.
