Confirmed: Watford loan out elder brother of Super Eagles midfielder to Genclerbirligi SK
Published: September 13, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Championship outfit Watford have announced that Tom Dele-Bashiru will be spending the remainder of the 2025-2026 season on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Genclerbirligi SK.
The move was completed before the close of the Turkish transfer window on Friday, September 12.
A former Nigeria U23 international, Tom is the elder brother of Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
Genclerbirligi SK have pulled off a transfer coup by securing Tom's signature, fending off competition from Istanbul Başakşehir, Kocaelispor and Antalyaspor.
Italian Serie A clubs Cremonese, Parma, Pisa and Bologna were also credited with an interest in the central midfielder.
Since joining the Golden Boys from Manchester City in the summer of 2019, the 25-year-old has netted eight goals and produced four assists.
His breakthrough campaign came in 2023-2024, when he made 38 appearances for the Hornets.
This season, Dele-Bashiru has turned out twice for Watford, against Queens Park rangers in the Championship and Norwich City in the Carabao Cup first round.
Dele-Bashiru is under contract with the Hornets until June 30, 2026, with Watford retaining the option of a one-year extension.
Meanwhile, Genclerbirligi SK find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Super Lig table after four games without a point ahead of Monday's clash with Rizespor.
