Yakubu Bags Brace, Okocha With World-Class Assist As Nigeria Beat China 3-2
Published: July 14, 2017
Nigeria began their campaign at the 'Star Sixes' Tournament with a 3-2 win over China on Thursday night, with former Everton strikers Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Daniel Amokachi finding the net for the African powerhouse.
On 15 minutes, Aiyegbeni slotted past the goalkeeper after a loose ball fell kindly to him, then added a second for the Super Eagles Legends few minutes later after a beautiful low pass from Austin Okocha.
Yakubu would have fancied helping himself to a hat-trick but he set up Amokachi for Nigeria's third goal.
The Super Eagles Legends almost squandered their three-goal advantage, as China scored two goals at a late stage in proceedings.
Nigeria face Italy in their next fixture on Friday, before wrapping up group play against Brazil on July 15.
