Chelsea Confirm Super Eagles Star Omeruo Captained Team For 71 Minutes Vs Crawley Town
Published: July 16, 2017
In their official match report, Premier League champions Chelsea have confirmed that Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo captained a Chelsea XI that were held to a 1-1 draw by League Two club Crawley Town on Saturday evening.
It is thought the Super Eagles star was handed the captain's armband because he was the most experienced player in the young squad on parade at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.
Chelsea set up a 3-4-3 formation from the start of the game, with Omeruo partnering Hector and Ampadu in defense, while the highly-rated England youth-teamer Ike Ugbo led their charge for goals.
Both Kenneth Omeruo and Ugbo were withdrawn in the 71st minute of the contest.
Chelsea took the lead in the 75th minute through Charlie Brown, only for defender Joe McNerney to equalize for the hosts in the closing minutes.
