Manchester United Confirm Nigerian Right Wing-Back Has Penned A New Deal
Published: July 25, 2017
Manchester United have confirmed that American-born Nigerian right wing-back Matthew Olosunde has penned a new contract ahead of the forthcoming season.
The 19-year-old ran out of contract at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, but was retained pending when he appends his signature to a fresh agreement.
In the off season, Olosunde had strongly hinted that he will extend his stay at Manchester United, stating that he was aiming for his first-team debut, but there was no official confirmation until now.
''In 2016/17, he really kicked on in the Reserves and ended up nailing down a place at right-back,'' Manchester United wrote on the official website.
''Showing real attacking verve towards the end of a difficult campaign, he even travelled with the first team for the Premier League games at Arsenal and Tottenham.
''An incredible solo goal in his homeland during the Dallas Cup illustrated his potential and the progress and he has much to look forward to in the upcoming campaign.''
Manchester United have also confirmed that Lagos-born midfielder Tosin Kehinde is still a player of the club, and he has taken part in a photo shoot with the U23s ahead of the new campaign.
