Nigerian Messi Poised To Feature For Liverpool Against Former Club This Weekend Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye, dubbed the Nigerian Messi, is in line to feature for Liverpool U23 when they face his former club PSV Eindhoven this weekend.

As part of their preparations for the new season, the Reds Reserve Team have been invited to participate in the Nuneaton Tournament at The Coombe Abbey Arena, while Steven Gerrard's U19 squad have jetted off to Switzerland for another tournament.

Adekanye, 18, is eligible for both teams, but has remained in England with the U23 team for the matches against Coventry City (July 29) and PSV Eindhoven’s B team (July 30).

The La Masia youth academy product joined Liverpool in July 2015 from PSV, where he played on loan from Barcelona.

The Netherlands youth international is enjoying his best pre-season since his arrival at the Anfield club, he came off the bench and netted a brace as the U23s thrashed MTK Budapest 5-2 during their tour of Hungary.

Bobby Adekanye's father, who is based in the Netherlands, is expected to be among the spectators for the clash against PSV on Sunday.
