Chelsea Loanee Ugbo Ghosts Past Three Nigerian Defenders To Win Penalty For Barnsley
Published: July 30, 2017
Chelsea loanee Ike Ugbo continues to dazzle for Barnsley in pre-season, despite the Reds losing 4-0 to Rotherham United at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday.
Four players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Ike Ugbo (Barnsley) and defenders Semi Ajayi, Michael Ihiekwe and Joshua Oluwadurotimi (Rotherham United) started for their respective teams.
The scoreboard was reading goalless at the interval, but the visitors would have taken the lead in the tenth minute if Adam Hammill had converted a spot-kick after Ugbo was felled in the box.
Ugbo went on a superb run into the penalty area, ghosted past Ajayi, Josh and Ihiekwe with ease, before he was hacked down by the Ipswich Town loanee.
The 18-year-old is in line to make his competitive debut for Barnsley in their Championship opener against Bristol City on August 5.
