Why Omeruo Will Not Be Registered By Chelsea For Premier League Despite Securing Work Permit
Published: August 05, 2017
Allnigeriasoccer.com can report Kenneth Omeruo has approximately three weeks left before he bids farewell to Chelsea for probably the last time in his career, bearing it in mind that he has to join the Super Eagles camp in Uyo as from Sunday, August 27.
The Nigeria international is not in the plans of manager Antonio Conte for the forthcoming season, and was left out of the Blues tour of Singapore and China, though there was a last minute plan to include him but he didn't have a visa.
Chelsea are expected to forward a 25-man roster to the Premier League immediately the summer transfer window closes for business and the list must contain no more than 17 players who do not fulfill the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.
Though Omeruo fulfills the Premier League requirements to play in England, having been issued a work permit, the Premier League champions have exhausted their quota for non home grown players, as things stand now.
Indeed, Chelsea are looking to offload one or two players, including Omeruo and Diego Costa, before the end of the transfer window, to free up space in their squad list.
Victor Moses and Fikayo Tomori have no such worries, the Nigeria winger is a HGP as he was registered with the English FA for three seasons prior to his 21st birthday, while the England youth-teamer is an U21 player.
