Chelsea Explain Why Spanish Winger Pedro Will Miss Burnley Clash
Published: August 11, 2017
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has provided a key update on the fitness of Spanish winger Pedro Rodríguez ahead of their Premier League opener against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
It would be recalled that Pedro was sent off last weekend as the Blues were beaten 4-1 on penalties by Arsenal in the Community Shield, and he will not be available for selection against the Clarets after failing a fitness test.
''Pedro is not available because he is suffering from an injury he picked up in the Arsenal game (last week) and he wasn’t able to recover, it's a knock on his ankle,'' Conte told the national press at Friday's press conference.
In addition, the Italian manager will not be able to count on the services of his Nigerian right wing-back Victor Moses.
Moses was dismissed in Chelsea's final game of last season against Arsenal and has been suspended for one game.
