'Messi-Less' Liverpool Are Beaten In Denmark Despite Brace From Portuguese Wonderkid
Published: August 16, 2017
Liverpool U23s lost 4-2 to Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland in a friendly on Tuesday.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Ibadan-born Netherlands youth international Bobby Adekanye, dubbed the Nigerian Messi, was not in the Reds traveling party to Scandinavia as he was undergoing special training in England.
FC Nordsjælland were three goals up by the 59th minute thanks to a brace from Jakob Johansson and Nicolai Baden Frederiksen's strike but the English team reduced the deficit through Portuguese wonderkid Paulo Alves on the hour mark.
Andreas Olsen made it 4-1 in the 74th minute before Alves netted his second of the evening with eight minutes remaining.
England U20 internationals of Nigerian descent Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo did not feature for Liverpool.
The two midfielders were omitted from the squad that traveled to Germany for the Champions League clash at Hoffenheim.
