Versatile Nigerian Midfielder Hits Post, Misses Penalty As Spurs Lose To Luton Town
Published: August 16, 2017
Versatile Nigerian midfielder Keanan Bennetts failed to convert his kick in the penalty shootout as Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 4-2 on penalties by League Two club Luton Town in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night (August 15).
At the end of regulation time the scoreboard was reading 2-2, with James Shea (OG) and Ryan Loft on target for the visitors, while Gambin and McQuoid netted for The Hatters.
Shortly after Totteham Hotspur got their equalizer 1-1, Bennetts was unlucky not to put them ahead when his shot hit the post after a skillful run into the box.
Nigerian defender Timothy Eyoma came close to grabbing the winner after he came off the bench in the 52nd minute.
The new ABBA format was used in the penalty shootout, and Bennetts blazed his effort over the bar.
