Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Swansea City in a Premier League 2 encounter at Leigh Sports Village in front of 2,136 fans on Monday night.
Two players of Nigerian descent Tosin Kehinde and Matthew Olosunde were in action for the Reds, with the Lagos born midfielder replacing Luke Shaw in the 59th minute.
Shaw has not featured for the first team since suffering an ankle ligament injury in April, and the defender was joined in the starting line-up by another first-teamer recovering from a long-term injury, Ashley Young.
On 53 minutes, Swansea City took the lead courtesy of former Manchester United winger Kenji Gorre, who fired a shot from the edge of the area after a fantastic solo run.
Belgian striker Indy Boonen restored parity with eleven minutes left on the clock when he pounced on a loose ball to score.
