Rohr Hints Balogun, Ekong Will Start In Central Defense Against Cameroon
Published: August 30, 2017
Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr, has expressed joy at the return to the fold of defender Leon Balogun ahead of the crucial double header against Cameroon.
Rohr, in praising the qualities of Balogun, pointed out that the Super Eagles lacked a certain steel in defense against South Africa in his absence and hopes the renewing his partnership with Ekong will provide the Eagles with the defensive solidity needed to soar past the Indomitable Lions.
Reacting to his return to the Super Eagles, Balogun expressed delight at returning to the team and overcoming the injuries that kept him out.
Speaking further, he pointed out that he hopes his partnership with Troost-Ekong will form a formidable defense line for the Super Eagles in the game against Cameroon.
The statement by Rohr gives pointers to his preferred central defense pairing ahead of the match in Uyo scheduled for Friday, 1st of September, 2017
