Ighalo, Mikel, V. Moses, & Iheanacho On Target As Nigeria Smash Cameroon 4-0
Published: September 01, 2017
Odion Jude Ighalo, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho found the back of the net as Nigeria thrashed bitter rivals Cameroon 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, keeping the Super Eagles at the top of Group B in the race to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Ighalo opened the scoring, slotting past Fabrice Ondoa after 29 minutes, following a perfect pass from Obi.
Obi then took centre stage, he came across a bouncing ball to send a left-footed volley beyond the overworked Ondoa in the 43rd minute to record his sixth international goal.
Chelsea winger Victor Moses didn't have to wait too long for his goal though, Moses Simon unselfishly squaring the ball for his team-mate who riffled a low grounder to the net ten minutes out of intermission.
On 77 minutes, substitute Iheanacho completed the rout with a brilliant header from Ogenyi Onazi's cross from the right.
The result means Gernot Rohr's side move seven points clear in the standings, with Zambia and Algeria yet to play their third game in Group B.
