Rohr: Enyeama Must Quit Lille In January To Stand A Chance Of Super Eagles Recall
Published: September 02, 2017
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has given reasons why former Nigeria skipper Vincent Enyeama is not in his plans at the moment.
The German has rightly pointed out that the former Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper is still recovering from injury and must quit Lille when the transfer market reopens for business to stand any chance of earning a recall to the national team ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
Enyeama has been declared surplus to requirements at his Ligue 1 club, and manager Marcelo Bielsa has installed former France U20 international Mike Maignan as the club's first choice keeper.
''The condition is that they play for their clubs. Unfortunately, Vincent at the moment is coming back from injury, he had an operation. He cannot play and is not ready,'' Rohr said at Friday's post-match press conference attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.
''And in the club it is difficult for him, he has to change the club in the next Fifa window and become fit.''
Rohr concluded by saying that players will be considered for call-ups in subsequent matches if they perform well for their clubs.
