Super Eagles Utility Man Shehu : We Anticipate A Tough Match
Published: September 03, 2017
Super Eagles right-back Shehu Abdullahi say they are well prepared for Monday's FIFA World Cup qualifier Group B tie against Cameroun.
The Gernot Rohr's wards clash with the African champions at 6pm on Monday.
Nigeria could become the first African team to earn a slot in Russia as early as Tuesday (next 48 hours) if they defeat the Cameroonians on Monday in Yaounde and Zambia fail to beat Algeria at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles have come out on top in two previous meetings, and the Anorthosis Famagusta utility player says Eagles' form will make the difference.
“We will be giving it our all. We know that they are a great side. This is an opportunity for us to showcase our talents against the reigning champs of African football,” Abdullahi told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We will go out there to impress and complete a double over them. Our form will give us the maximum points at stake.
“Our fans will come in their numbers to support us. Obviously, we know it will be a challenge but we trust our abilities and we should do well.”
Abdullahi meanwhile, says he is looking forward to some good football from two creative teams.
“We anticipate a tough match against Cameroun but we have prepared well to give our best against them.”
“It is a World Cup qualification match but I am sure both teams will play their best football.”
The match will take place at the Stade Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde on Monday, starting from 6pm.
