Iheanacho Scores Fourth Goal In Premier League 2 Against Akinola's West Ham
Published: September 12, 2017
Kelechi Iheanacho played for Leicester City U23s on Monday night in his bid to build up match fitness ahead of the trip to Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town this weekend.
The Nigeria international's last appearance in the youth football league in England was back in December 14, 2015, when he bagged two assists asĀ Manchester City beat Southampton U21s 3-1 at the Academy Stadium.
Back then, that league was known as U21 Premier League, the forerunner of the Premier League 2, which was introduced in the 2016-2017 season.
Leicester City U23s secured a 3-1 win over Olatunji Akinola's West Ham United, with Iheanacho registering his name on the score-sheet in the 45th minute, the first goal of the game at the King Power Stadium.
Iheanacho came close in the 15th minute but goalkeeper Matrevic saved his left foot effort, and the first half was heading for a draw until the striker netted from close range.
The 20-year-old has logged 20 minutes for the Foxes first team in all competitions from a possible 450.
Prior to yesterday's game, the Super Eagle had tallied three goals in the reserve league in matches against Manchester United (2) and Southampton back in the 2014-15 season.
