16-Year-Old Nigerian Goalkeeper Trains With Arsenal First Team Pre-Doncaster
Published: September 19, 2017
According to Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird, Okonkwo was spotted training with the first team players at London Colney as the squad stepped up their preparations for tomorrow's third round tie against The Rovers.
Thus, there's a possibility that the 16-year-old could make his debut for Arsenal on Wednesday, but it must be said that the chances are very slim.
Manager Arsene Wenger is expected to make some changes to the squad that impressed in the goalless draw with Chelsea on Sunday, and Nigerian attack-minded players Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom are in line to make the match day squad, having participated in full training this morning.
Okonkwo has yet to debut for Arsenal in the U18 Premier League, he has been on the bench on four occasions this term.
The highly-rated glovesman, who has caps for England youth teams, is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Arsenal U16s.
