Abraham Distances Himself From Reports He Has Pledged Future To Nigeria
Published: September 21, 2017
Tammy Abraham has moved quickly to dismiss reports that he has pledged his international future to Nigeria ahead of the country of his birth England.
The Nigeria Football Federation had informed on Thursday, September 21 that they are closer to securing the services of the Chelsea loanee after a meeting with the player and his agent Neil Fewills last weekend.
''Contrary to reports in the media today I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance," Abraham said in a statement.
"I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our last game against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday given he is a friend of my father.
"However, any suggestion that I have made a decision to change my international representation is incorrect and wide of the mark.
"I have informed The FA that I remain available for selection for England."
In the light of the foregoing, Tammy Abraham is set to add to his international caps for England U21s when they tackle Scotland and Andorra in the UEFA U21 Championship qualifiers next month.
