Nigerians React To England U21 Star Tammy Abraham Snubbing Super Eagles
Published: September 22, 2017
Several Nigerians were disappointed after Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham pledged his allegiance to England over Nigeria at senior international level.
The Nigeria Football Federation put the cart before the horse when they broke the news via their official Twitter account and the post was retweeted 864 times, claiming that they were on the brink of securing the services of Tammy Abraham, which was later dismissed by the England U21 international on Thursday evening.
Below are some of the reactions from Nigerians on Twitter:
@TheYomiKazeem : ''Tammy Abraham has done zero to deserve a Super Eagles place. Might work out later but he's getting in now only because of his British accent''.
@pius_adesanmi : ''19-years-old - Tammy Abraham commits to England. 32-years-old - 3 world cups, 0 appearances, Tammy Abraham pleads to switch to Super Eagles''.
@iamOkon : ''Tammy Abraham: "I have informed The FA that I remain available for selection for England." NFF have played their penalty to throw-in. 🙆🏽‍♂️''.
@booday10 :''One day, one day, we will stop making a fool of our nation. One day. ''
@CalvinEmeka : ''When I saw the story of Abraham's supposed switch I just sighed. We should have waited, invited him first if he accepts then announce''
@lawizzygotswag :''Tammy Abraham, you can only choose England if ur role model is Agbolahan of Aston Villa.. Use ur brain''
@deejayfaremi: ''NFF want Tammy Abraham, but he's not eager to play for Nigeria. He's STILL open to playing for England. We are 2nd choice. Don't doubt it.''
@ngigelistic : ''I'm against begging players to play for Nigeria, let them earn it if they're good. Tammy Abraham is not better than Moses,Iwobi etal.''
