Bobby Adekanye Shines But Liverpool Lose To Spartak Moscow In UYL
Published: September 26, 2017
Ibadan-born Netherlands youth-teamer Bobby Adekanye made his second appearance for Liverpool as they lost 2-1 to Spartak Moscow on match day two in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon.
The winger made his debut in the competition in the opening round of matches against Sevilla, and was on the Futbol'noe pole 4 Spartak turf for 32 minutes today against the Russian opponents.
Aside from the fact that Adekanye has not been named in the provisional roster for the first team's game with Spartak in the Champions League tonight, he has been effectively ruled out, having featured against their youth team.
Steven Gerrard's boys started brilliantly in the Russian capital, scoring through Adam Lewis in the 17th minute, but two goals from Rudenko secured a win for the capital outfit.
Adekanye looked lively after he was introduced, earned a couple of free kicks for the Reds and had an effort on goal just past the hour mark.
Liverpool U19s travel to Slovenia to face NK Maribor in their next match in October.
