Odion Ighalo Will Put Nigeria Success Ahead Of Personal Glory
Published: October 03, 2017Changchun Yatai F.C. striker Odion Ighalo has emphasized that he will make sure the Super Eagles qualify for their sixth World Cup ahead of personal glory when they face off with Zambia on Saturday.
The former Watford man was one of the shining lights in Nigeria's games against Cameroon in September.
Ighalo was on target in the 4-0 rout of the African champions on match day three and played through the pain barrier in Yaounde after picking up an injury in Uyo.
''China is fine. First and foremost the game against Zambia is about teamwork,'' said Ighalo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
''We pray to win the game, the most important thing is to win the game on Saturday. It is not about personal glory.''
Ighalo bagged an assist in Nigeria's 1-1 draw with Cameroon on September 4 when he teed up Moses Simon in the 30th minute.
The ex-Flying Eagles skipper is enjoying a fine season with Changchun Yatai, netting 12 goals from 24 appearances.
