Onomah, Abraham & Solanke Score And Combine In England Win Vs Scotland
Published: October 06, 2017
Three players of Nigerian descent on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation were on target for England U21s as they beat Scotland 3-1 in a UEFA European U21 Championship at the Riverside Stadium on Friday night.
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Josh Onomah, Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke and Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham were all named in the starting line-up and registered their names on the score-sheet, and a fourth player of Nigerian parentage in Everton winger Ademola Lookman played the last six minutes.
Onomah scored a sensational goal from outside the area when he looped a shot over Scotland goalkeeper Ryan Fulton in the 13th minute to give the Young Lions the lead.
And three minutes out of intermission, England were two goals to the good, after Tammy Abraham stepped up to convert the spot-kick after he was felled in the box.
Chris Cadden pulled a goal back for the Scottish in the 78th minute, only for Solanke to restore England's two goal advantage a minute later, with Onomah and Abraham involved in the build-up to the goal.
Next up, England tackle Andorra at Estadi Comunal d'Andorra la Vella, Andorra la Vella on Tuesday, October 10, and Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori will be hoping to feature after making the bench against the Scots.
