Zambia FA To Fans : We Were Right After All, Fifa Throws Out Ghana Protest
Published: October 14, 2017

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have insisted that they were right not to file an appeal to Fifa over Augustine Mulenga’s disallowed goal in their World Cup qualifier against Nigeria despite the
demands by the Chipolopolo fans.
The heat in the debate whether or not it was a legitimate goal has refused to die down a week after, and the Zambian Federation have made a reference to a similar case involving Ghana whether they should have protested or not.
The Ghana Football Association had protested to Fifa in the wake of their goalless draw with Uganda last weekend, in which they complained about the refereeing decisions.
Ghana had complained that Frank Acheampong was denied a legitimate penalty by South African referee Daniel Bennett after he was felled in the box by a defender, before goals from Daniel Amartey and Rafael Dwamena were ruled offside.
Fifa did not waste time to throw out the protest, stating : ''no proceedings will be opened around the World Cup qualifier match Uganda vs. Ghana since no traits of manipulation of the game were found after initial investigation.''
Nigeria secured a Russia 2018 berth after amassing 13 points in Group B with a game to spare, six more than Zambia.
