Solanke Benched, Ejaria Missing As Spurs Make Big Statement In Win Over Liverpool
Published: October 22, 2017
Tottenham Hotspur ruthlessly picked apart their hapless opponents Liverpool in a goal-parked encounter at the National Stadium in London onĀ Sunday evening.
Jurgen Klopp's men had came into this one without a win in their last four Premier League games and a rampant Tottenham side took little time to inflict more misery on the Merseyside club.
As for team news, Dominic Solanke watched the entire proceedings of the game from the bench while compatriot,Ovie Ejaria was not named in the match day squad.
The irrepressible Harry Kane set things rolling just four minutes in, after capitalizing on a poor reaction from Simon Mignolet to put away his side's first goal.
It was soon two after Kane had yet again combined brilliantly with Son Heung Min to set the latter up for an easy finish.
Egyptian attacker Mohamed Salah halved the deficit on the 24th minute mark but that was as good as it got for the Reds, with Dele Alli and Kane grabbing further goals to leave their victims reeling in displeasure.
As a result of the 4-1 win, Mauricio Pochettino's men are now tied on 20 points with Manchester United who are in second and just five off leaders Manchester City while Liverpool are in ninth with 13 points from nine games.
