Etebo : Normal To Be Watched By Man Utd, Top Teams When Benfica, Porto Are Playing
Published: October 30, 2017
Super Eagles star Oghenekaro Etebo was not surprised one bit that scouts flocked to the Estadio da Luz to make check on Benfica and Feirense stars in a Portuguese Primeira Liga clash on Friday.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, representatives from Sheffield Wednesday, SC Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, Eibar, Mallorca and Cordoba were among the 47,207 spectators that watched the game, according to Record.
Etebo has played down suggestions that the scouts specially came to observe him at close quarters, with a view to making a move for his services.
''Yes, it is true that scouts were at the stadium, they came but it is not certain that they came to watch Etebo,'' a top source close to the Feirense number ten told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''Whenever Benfica, Porto and Sporting Lisbon are playing, it's normal for the top teams in Europe to come to their games.
''Etebo did well against Benfica and had told his teammates that it would be difficult for Benfica to win if they can avoid conceding a goal in the first twenty minutes''.
This website can re-confirm that Oghenekaro Etebo extended his contract by an additional year in the summer, and he is now contracted to Feirense until June 30, 2019.
