Deportivo de La Coruna GK Uzoho Reports For Nigeria Duty On Monday, Nov 6
Published: October 30, 2017
La Liga club Deportivo de La Coruña have confirmed via their official website that former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is in line to make his international debut for Nigeria next month.
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has handed a first-ever call-up to Uzoho despite having only two appearances to his name in the Spanish top division.
The recently turned 19-year-old will hook up with the Nigerian national team at their get-together in Morocco on Monday, November 6, after the weekend in which Deportivo will host Atletico de Madrid and the second team face Segovia Gymnastics.
Uzoho has been rewarded for his fine form by the Nigerian coaches after posting five shutouts in seven matches for Deportivo de La Coruña's first-team and the reserves in the third-tier.
He was a member of the Golden Eaglets squad at the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup but didn't come off the bench in any of the matches at the tournament in United Arab Emirates.
Nigeria will face Algeria at the Chahid Hamlaou stadium in Constantine on Friday 10 November, then play a friendly against Argentina at the Krasnodar Stadium in Krasnodar four days later.
