Nigeria international Moses Simon faces up to two weeks on the sidelines, according to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
It has come to light that the exciting winger suffered the injury while training in the swimming pool on Thursday, a day before Gent faced off with Standard Liege in the Belgian First Division A.
Simon has a deep cut in his foot and club medics have estimated that he will return to action in the next two weeks.
As exclusively reported by allnigeriasoccer.com, the winger has withdrawn from the Nigerian squad for their upcoming games against Algeria and Argentina and has informed the coaching staff of his nonavailability.
This season, Simon has 13 appearances under his belt for Gent in all competitions, logging 1,140 minutes.
This would be the first time in over two years that the 22-year-old will not report for international duty for a competitive match played by the Super Eagles.
