Rohr Begins Observing Akpeyi Wednesday Evening, GK Finally Departs Lagos
Published: November 08, 2017
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr will begin monitoring Daniel Akpeyi on Wednesday evening after the Chippa United goalkeeper finally overcame the challenges of catching a flight to the Moroccan capital.
Akpeyi had been in the nation's commercial capital, Lagos, since Monday night, and was booked to travel to Rabat at 0430 hours on Tuesday but there was a mix-up and he couldn't travel until this morning.
''Daniel was boarding a flight to Rabat when I spoke to him this morning at 630 am. The flight time is four hours, so he will be with the team today,'' a Nigeria Football Federation insider told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He is unlikely to meet up with the training session this morning, he is expected to take part in the workout this evening.''
With the imminent arrival of Akpeyi at the Super Eagles Golden Tulip Farah Rabat camp, it means all the players in the pool for the World Cup qualifier and international friendly against Algeria and Argentina respectively have reported for international duty.
The Super Eagles trained for over an hour on Tuesday evening.
