Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi, Simon Have Identical Scoring Tallies In Belgium
Published: November 25, 2017
Both Moses Simon and Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi have identical scoring tallies in the Belgian First Division A after sixteen matches, having registered their names on the score-sheet in Gent's 3-1 win over Royal Excel Mouscron on Friday night.
The Super Eagles winger stepped up to convert a spot kick in the 29th minute but Gent's lead lasted only four minutes, with Awoniyi tapping home a rebound to equalize for the visitors.
The two Nigerians have now scored four goals apiece in the Belgian First Division A and provided two assists each.
Simon also hit target against KV Kortrijk and KAS Eupen (2) and Awoniyi found the net in previous matches against Lokeren, Zulte Waregem and KV Mechelen.
The 22-year-old has already surpassed his tally for the 2016-2017 season and needs four more goals to set a new personal best this term.
Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru is Nigeria's leading marksman in Belgium with 7 goals.
