Super Eagles GK Akpeyi To Resume Training This Week After Suffering Neck Injury

The injury suffered by Daniel Akpeyi in Chippa United's goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns in an ABSA Premiership clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday is not as bad as first feared.
On 68 minutes, the Super Eagles netminder was forced off injured with a neck injury and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Akpeyi received a knock to his neck during a corner kick in the 62nd minute and was replaced by Brighton Mhlongo.
''Akpeyi suffered a minor neck injury, it is nothing serious. He couldn't manage to complete the game,'' a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''After tests carried out by the doctors, they informed him he will resume training on Wednesday.''
Daniel Akpeyi has been impressive for Chippa United this term, posting five shutouts in nine league appearances.
Compatriot James Okwuosa was officially named Chippa United's Man of the Match against The Brazilians.
