Galatasaray coach hopeful Osimhen can play through pain barrier against Eintracht Frankfurt
Published: September 13, 2025
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has hinted that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen could feature in Thursday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, even if it means playing through the pain barrier.
Osimhen picked up a chin injury during Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The setback ruled him out of the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with South Africa and Galatasaray’s 2-0 win over Eyüpspor on Saturday afternoon.
His absence has fueled concern over his fitness ahead of the crucial European tie.
However, Buruk, speaking in his post-match press conference, expressed optimism that the forward may return in time to face the Bundesliga side.
"Osimhen's condition will be determined within a few days," he told the club's official website. "We're hopeful he'll play."
Buruk admitted that Osimhen is still experiencing pain but added that the club will assess whether the Nigerian striker can cope well enough to feature despite the discomfort.
"We think he will, but of course, he's in pain. We'll see if he can tolerate that pain and play with it. We have a few days."
Since arriving from Napoli on a permanent deal, Osimhen has established himself as a vital figure for the Yellow-Reds, playing a pivotal role in their domestic double last season.
With just days to go before the clash, Buruk will be eager to have the Nigerian forward back to boost Galatasaray’s chances of securing victory against Frankfurt.
