Arsenal's Iwobi Explains What Went Wrong In The First Half Vs Liverpool
Published: December 23, 2017
Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi has admitted that the players were all below their high standards during the first half of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
At half-time, Arsenal legend Ian Wright had aimed a dig at Iwobi as well as Alexis Sanchez for being among the worst players on the pitch and wanted the Nigerian replaced.
''Things just didn’t go right for us. There were a few sloppy passes and we weren’t really composed or playing as if we were at home,'' said Iwobi to arsenal.com.
''It was very hectic, it was quite physically demanding but it was an enjoyable [game] at the same time.
''[Liverpool] always give 100 per cent with the work-rate they put in. They fight for each other and have chemistry, so it was always going to be a tough game.''
Though Iwobi has started the Gunners last three games in the Premier League against West Ham, Newcastle United and Liverpool, he failed to last the distance in any of the games.
