Official: Liverpool Announce Outgoing Transfer Of Versatile Defender
Published: January 05, 2018
With a statement on their official website, Liverpool have announced that promising defender Corey Whelan has joined Yeovil Town on loan for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
The 20-year-old appended his signature to a new deal with the Reds in December, shortly after celebrating his birthday.
Whelan has been on the books of the Anfield outfit for more than ten years after first training with the club as an U10.
And this is the first time in his Liverpool career that he has been loaned out in order to garner first team experience.
Whelan, who can be deployed as a right back or central defender, has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at U17 and U21 level.
He wore the jersey of the academy team of Crewe Alexandra before joining Liverpool.
