Sunderland Hoping To Sign Prolific Manchester City Nigerian Striker
Published: January 16, 2018
Championship strugglers Sunderland are hoping to sign talented Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha on loan, according to reports.
Daily Mail UK says Black Cats manager Chris Coleman wants to add firepower with his team bottom of the table and believes 19-year-old Nmecha could make a significant impact.
Lukas Nmecha has thrived for City's youth teams over the years and was rewarded with his first-team debut in the quarterfinal of the League Cup against Leicester City, after making the bench in the fourth round vs Wolves.
Manchester City were aware that the talented striker was attracting interest from several Premier League and Championship teams and moved quickly to offer him a fresh three-year deal just last week.
The 19-year-old Nmecha has netted nine goals in ten appearances for City across all levels this season, including two hat-tricks against Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League 2.
If the proposed deal to Sunderland materilizes, he will link up with Nigerian strikers Joel Asoro and Josh Maja at the Stadium of Light until the end of the 2017-18 season.
