Nigerian Striker To Depart Arsenal After 16 Years, Jets Into Belgium For Medical
Published: January 30, 2018
It is all but confirmed that Nigeria Football Federation target Chuba Akpom will bid farewell to Arsenal before the transfer window closes for business on Wednesday, January 31.
Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws says the Arsenal striker has arrived in Belgium for a routine medical, before penning a contract that will keep him at Sint-Truidense for the next three seasons.
The former England U21 international was among the 17,625 spectators that watched Sint-Truidense take on Racing Genk in the Belgian First Division A this past weekend.
Akpom first trained with Arsenal at the age of six, and is set to leave the club where he has spent the last sixteen years of his career.
The Hale End Academy product has not featured for Arsenal U23s in their last three games against Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Sunderland, amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
Akpom made 12 first-team appearances for the Gunners, and provided two assists in those games.
