Official: Right-Back Returns To Premier League Champions Chelsea
Published: January 30, 2018
Dutch club FC Groningen write on their official website that defender Todd Kane will return to Chelsea after his loan spell in the Netherlands was cut short.
The former England U19 international had been expected to spend the whole of this season on loan at the Eredivisie club but has been recalled due to his lack of first-team opportunities.
''Todd got too little perspective on playing time for the rest of this season," said technical manager Ron Jans to FC Groningen's official website.
''For all parties, an interim return to Chelsea was the most logical solution.
''Kane is from the youth team of the English top club, but he is still waiting for his debut in the main squad. Chelsea have loaned him out in recent years to various clubs at home and abroad.''
The 24-year-old Kane, who joined Chelsea 17 years ago, previously played for Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and NEC Nijmegen on loan.
