Arsenal Boss Reacts To Selling Highest Goalscorer To Chelsea
Published: January 30, 2018
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was quizzed about Chelsea's reported interest in France international Olivier Giroud in the wake of his side's 3-1 loss to Swansea City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Giroud has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Premier League champions and with the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal training center today, the Gunners might sanction the £18 million sale of the Frenchman to their rivals before the close of the window in less than 24 hours.
''At the moment I don’t want to talk much about where he goes, if he goes, because that will be definitely decided. Nothing is concluded at the moment,'' Wenger told reporters.
On the possibility of Giroud joining Chelsea, Wenger stated : ''He’s an Arsenal man, after that he needs to play as well because he has not played many games in the Premier League since the start of the season.
''He’s a regular player in the French national team. He has a World Cup where France will go, places of course are difficult to get.
''It was a difficult situation for him but he always had his heart 100 per cent in the team and was committed.''
Following the departure of Theo Walcott to Everton, Olivier Giroud is now Arsenal's highest goalscorer in the current squad, with 105 goals to his name from 253 matches and has provided 41 assists.
